December 17, 2015: Knowledge and Monitoring Deficits Contribute to Hospital-Acquired Hyponatremia

Hospital-acquired hyponatremia is associated with poor outcomes, including higher in-hospital mortality, increased length of stay, and higher likelihood of discharge to a facility relative to discharge home. This multi-incident analysis of hospital-acquired hyponatremia incidents identifies a number of vulnerabilities in clinical practice as well as learning opportunities to prevent potentially fatal outcomes.   Read more...
